Battle of Corinth (April 29th-May30th, 1862)

After Shiloh the Union Army moved to place a siege on Corinth, the the Confederates abandoned the town. Then the Union soldiers fortified the town and were able to defeat a Confederate attack. The Federal Army of the Mississippi with 23,000 troops fought the Southern Army of Tennessee with 22,000 troops.

 October 3-4, 1862

 The battle was fought in Corinth, MS where the Memphis and Charleston Railroad met the Mobile and Ohio Railroad.

 With the victory at Corinth, the Union Army was able to concentrate thier focus on Vicksburg, MS and control of the Mississippi River.
